Resolve: The Penny Lady’s Path to Numismatic Excellence – Interfanatic Customer Spotlight

Sometimes the most extraordinary journeys begin with the simplest acts of resolve.

When Charmy Harker came to us in 2019, she was resolved to solve her problem. She had a website, www.thepennylady.com, but she didn’t like the company she was working with any longer. She’d put up with them for long enough. She was resolved to find somebody better.

As she resolved to solve her problem, and we were quite happy to oblige, and resolved to build a relationship with Charmy that would hopefully last decades.

The Quiet Power of Unwavering Commitment

Charmy’s story embodies the very essence of resolve—not the flashy, dramatic kind that makes headlines, but the steady, persistent dedication that builds empires one careful decision at a time. From her first Indian cents, her expertise naturally expanded to encompass Lincoln cents and early copper, ultimately giving birth to The Penny Lady®—now widely regarded as the premier destination for serious cent collectors.

The nickname wasn’t her creation. “It was my customers who actually bestowed that nomenclature on me,” Charmy explains. “I would be at a coin show and people would notice my table and say, ‘Hey, you’re that Penny Lady,’ or point to me and declare, ‘There’s the Penny Lady.'”

Sometimes the most authentic brands emerge not from marketing strategies, but from genuine expertise consistently delivered.

Building Excellence Through Persistent Dedication

In the male-dominated numismatic world, Charmy understood that success required more than enthusiasm—it demanded unwavering commitment to knowledge and trustworthiness. Her resolve manifested in countless ways:

  • 15+ years of detailed coin show reports that capture not just transactions, but the full experience of numismatic community
  • Leadership roles including President of Women in Numismatics (2013-2022) and Chair of the ANA’s Dealer Relations Committee (2015-2019)
  • Award-winning educational displays that have elevated the standard for numismatic presentations
  • Scholarly contributions that have advanced understanding of Indian and Lincoln cent varieties

Her dedication extends far beyond her tables at coin shows. Currently serving on the American Numismatic Association’s By-Laws Committee, Charmy has consistently worked to improve the entire numismatic experience for collectors and dealers alike.

Recognition Among Legends

Being named to Coin World’s “100 Most Influential People in Numismatics” places Charmy alongside industry titans whose innovations have transformed coin collecting:

  • John Albanese, founder of CAC and co-founder of PCGS and NGC
  • Jeff Garrett, former ANA President and Red Book Senior Editor
  • Ian Russell, founder of GreatCollections
  • David Hall, co-founder of PCGS and architect of modern grading
  • Jim Halperin, co-founder of Heritage Auctions

To be honored alongside such transformative figures reflects not only Charmy’s expertise in Indian and Lincoln cents, but her broader contributions to education, community building, and the professional standards that benefit all collectors.

In our fast-paced digital world, we often seek immediate results and instant recognition. Charmy’s story reminds us that the most meaningful achievements come from the quiet accumulation of knowledge, the patient building of relationships, and the unwavering commitment to excellence—even when no one is watching.
