Risk-taking – not for the wary. Putting yourself out there, doing something new, taking the road less taken – all signs of courage. All signs of a person starting their own new business.

There’s an audacity about doing things your way and making it work. Especially when you have others depending on you to make it work.

In a way, this quote is a little shallow because it comes from somebody for whom this advice worked well. There are millions of others who have taken this advice and for whom it did not go well. We don’t hear from them, though…

For months, we’ve been told to limit our contact with others. Some took it seriously. Others did not. Some chose to take risks with their own lives, but more importantly, with the lives of others. It comes back to which information sources we choose to trust, I suppose. Many people distrusted the advice of people they didn’t want to hear, or people they didn’t want to hear from. The result is, while things were under control for a bit, everything those people have been telling us is true. This isn’t political, we were in a tenuous state, and now things are substantially worse because of the risk takers.

So: take risks. But be prudent. And mind your information sources. Maybe the ones telling you what you want to hear aren’t the most trustworthy.

Courage: An Interfanatic Quality

We take risks every day. Design is risk. To tell the story in a new way, you have to be audacious – you have to find a way to make your customer stand out while not taking too much risk. Their reputation depends on it.

But we are prudent about the risks we take. We don’t take risks because we want to, or just for the sake of taking risks. We do it when it’s required and when the payoff is worth the effort.

Every small business who deals with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce understands risks and the rewards that may come. Some have reaped those rewards, but many are just making the attempt.

Every small business I meet in or around Palos Verdes, I recommend they join the PVP Chamber. I know the work the PVP Chamber staff puts forth for its membership. When things are good or like now, when things are tough, they work hard to be a resource and to help those small businesses survive and thrive.

So they know risk – and they know courage. They encourage courage, and try to help their small businesses put their best foot forward.

It was great fun to work with the Chamber on their Social Media efforts. We helped them get the word out about the PV Street Fair using their social media accounts as a tool. We then strategized and implemented a successful ongoing social media campaign, celebrating their member businesses, until they had the resources to to take over the project themselves.

The Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce is great to work with. They’re fantastic to have on your side.

Sincerity, according to Beta, is an invitation. Truthfully, the opposite can be, also. But sincerity isn’t questionable, as levity might be. Sincerity is always a foot forward, a gesture of love and kindness.

Sincerity is always a way forward. When people observe sincere deeds, they want more.

Sincerity is the Interfanatic quality we celebrate this week. During a nervous time, sincerity and honesty are a welcome respite. And we welcome new friends with our sincerity.

Sincerity builds trust. Trust builds relationships. Relationships are the foundation of business. In that way, sincerity is the foundation of all business.

Without sincerity nor trust, businesses cannot feel secure working with other businesses. Sincerity is the bedrock of B2B relationships.

Which is why, as we celebrate sincerity, we also celebrate the Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce. It is a small but mighty group, all working extremely hard for their member businesses in Southern California.

When you talk to the folks at the PVP Chamber, there is no doubt they’re thinking of you and working to promote your best interest in all they do.

They’re sincere.

Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce: Building Relationships on Sincerity

The staff of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber take their task seriously. They know they exist for the will of their members. The Palos Verdes Peninsula is a small but tight community. The Chamber supports their community and businesses with a one-on-one partnership you don’t normally see from a Chamber in Commerce.

As soon as businesses were told to close their doors, the Chamber stepped up, immediately providing distance networking opportunities. They shifted gears the way only a small and focused organization could.

And this behavior, this fervor, all comes from sincerity to do what’s right for its members.

When you’re interested in checking out a business in Palos Verdes, on the Peninsula (on the Hill, as it is known colloquially), call the Chamber to see if they’re a member. If they are, get the Chamber’s opinion on the business. If they’re not a member, it might be better to find a business that is.

Social Media Marketing with Interfanatic: Building a Solid Interface to the Community

Last year, Interfanatic partnered with the PVP Chamber to handle the social media aspects of Chamber outreach. We handled the live posting from the PVP Chamber’s PV Street Fair, and then continued with a Social Media program for the Chamber.

The results were astonishing. The Chamber was able to grow some of its Social Media Channels incredibly in just a short period of time. The community learned more about member businesses and Chamber activities, and the collaboration was incredibly successful.

Social Media is a crucial part of outreach and customer service in 2020. During this time of COVID-19 social distancing, there will be no PV Street Fair, but rest assured if you need to find out about your local Palos Verdes business community, the PVP Chamber knows what’s happening.

Interfanatic & Sincerity

As we said before, without sincerity nor trust, businesses cannot feel secure working with other businesses. A sincere demeanor is the bedrock of B2B relationships. Perhaps that’s why we’re proud to have great relationships with many businesses spanning multiple decades.

Ah, a real photograph. It was a beautiful but ominous day. My wife and I were out for a walk on one of the last days the Esplanade was open. We were already social distancing, but I took the opportunity to grab some photographs before going indoors for a lengthy period.
