Love: Beach Cities Tutoring – Interfanatic Customer Spotlight

Love makes your soul crawl out from its hiding place.

-Zora Neale Hurston

Gosh, this is just a beautiful quote. Isn’t it?

Much like the lovely Zora Hurston – a beautiful woman, a beautiful soul. And somebody loved her, lucky for us, because her soul crawled out and blossomed into the beautiful body of work she created with her life.

She reminds me, in a way, of Ivie Sherman, the teacher turned tutor behind the Beach Cities Tutoring network of online and in-home tutors and test prep professionals based in nearby Torrance, CA. (Not to be confused with Beach Cities Student Tutoring, who came later basically stole Ivie’s business name).

Ivie definitely sees it as her job to help her students and mentees crawl out from their hiding places. And she does an excellent job, with love!

Love: An Interfanatic Quality

It takes passion and work to keep customers satisfied for decades. We’ve watched many fly-by-nights come and go in our business. But we’re back, day after day, because we love our customers and we want to help them succeed. We put love into our work for our customers, and it shows.

We love working with customers who love doing what they do. Almost all of our customers are wonderful to work with, and most are loving people. It makes it easy to get excited about helping them when they’re excited about loving what they do. It helps us love what we do.

Beach Cities Tutoring: Loving Students, Helping their Souls Flourish

When I read this Hurston quote, I knew immediately we’d be featuring Ivie Sherman this week. It’s perfect. Sherman helps her students’ souls crawl from their hiding places. She, and the network of tutors she directs, give students the tools they need to be confident, to comprehend, to learn, and to study for success. She and her network of tutors give love.

Ivie came to me a few weeks ago looking for help with her website. She wanted to get more traffic. We quickly settled in and got working on an Interfanatic SEO Situation Reports. We found where she was doing well and where her site was under-performing, and we came up with a laundry list of tasks to attack for her. We’re working through that now.

“Sherman and the network of tutors she directs, gives students tools they need to be confident, to comprehend, to learn, and to study for success.”

It is absolutely our pleasure to help a good, hard-working teacher help students. Her investment in our area, and our investment in her, will help our kids grow up stronger and more confident. We hope in the long run her students will bring their brand of success back to our area to reinvest.

That’s what we’re here to do. We want to build up people all over the world. What better place to start with love than right under your nose?

Interfanatic Service Focus: Interfanatic Basic Social Media Marketing

Social Media is an excellent opportunity to show love to your customers. You can celebrate them there (as we do), and you can interact with them, often in fun ways you wouldn’t otherwise.

But, let’s face it: Social Media (done right, at least) is a LOT of work.

If you don’t have the time or energy to produce great content and schedule your posts, we can do that. You should still interact with your customers – you or your service department – but at least we can keep the ball rolling for you. And when you have more successful posts, we can help you with advertising them, to get them to a larger audience and land you some new customers.

We have many options for all budgets. Talk to us and we’ll get your social media rolling!

Interfanatic: Feel the Love!

We love our customers! Customers like Ivie are easy to love because they love what they do, and we get to be a part of their success. Come be one of our customers. Let us take care of you, so you can take care of your customers and your business.

The yellow rose of friendship. It’s a beautiful rose; more beautiful than reflected in this picture. But it conveys the point: roses express love. When you receive a rose, it helps your soul to crawl out from its hiding place and feel the warmth of acceptance, compassion, and appreciation. I share this rose with you.

Beauty: Fast Cars, Inc. – Interfanatic Customer Spotlight

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.

Eleanor Roosevelt

We all need something to believe in. Especially when today is not perfect, we need something to work for, something to cling to, hope for a better day.

Eleanor Roosevelt witnessed highs and lows through the eyes of the President. She helped her husband see a way for the country through the Great Depression. She believed in the beauty of their dream.

And then, 79 years ago this week, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. Yet again, she and her husband found beauty in their dream of a way through. And the US emerged stronger than ever.

Every day, we face challenges – some small, like a hiccup in a computer system, and some large – like a loved one dying. We have to dream consistently to have something to work toward. We have to dream to see ourselves through.

One thing some people dream of is a beautiful automobile. It can be a symbol of status, of power, and of a certain uniqueness. Steve Tillack’s business, Fast Cars Inc., gives people a way to achieve that dream. It connects people who can with automobiles that can.

Beauty: An Interfanatic Quality

In everything we do, we seek beauty. Whether it’s a beautiful solution, or a beautiful compromise, or a beautiful design, that is what we dream daily to achieve.

Not just for us at Interfanatic, but for our customers. We seek to create beautiful solutions to their problems – to help them achieve their dreams.

Fast Cars, Inc. – Beauty Supply

Not every car is beautiful. But some are gorgeous kinetic works of art that, in the right hands, can be harnessed to create a kinetic sculpture of breathtaking speed. That’s what Steve Tillack does.

“A 100-point Pebble Beach Concourse 250 Ferrari is a satisfying sight, sound, and beauty to behold.”

Tillack’s company produces Pebble Beach winners. They restore Ferraris and other cars of great rarity and pedigree to pristine, better-than-factory condition. Many people deal in art, but fewer deal in the masters. A 100-point Pebble Beach Concourse 250 Ferrari is a satisfying sight, sound, and beauty to behold. And a great rarity. That’s what Steve deals in.

When Steve came to us to help him with his The Racers Shop branch of their business, it was our pleasure to assist. But we also helped them capture the beauty of their creations to add to their website for sale. As a professional photographer, I tutored their staff on how to photograph their cars to present them best for prospective owners.

I really enjoyed working with Steve’s team. He’s got an excellent shop and crew. And they’re a Redondo Beach institution.

Interfanatic Service Focus: Interfanatic Web Site Design & Production

The ultimate digital beauty is a website that is attractive and works. Perhaps, one might say, one that attracts money for its owner.

This is what we do. We give our customers what they want, but we guide them with our experience to help them use their website to make more money.

That’s why you have a website. To disseminate information, yes, but primarily to bring in repeat customers.

Interfanatic: Celebrating Beauty

Just like the cars of Fast Cars Inc., a great website is about beauty and performance. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder… What beautiful dreams can we work with you on, to help you find a better future?

There is little more beautiful than the simplicity of a beautiful day. While out and about one day, walking with my wife, I captured this beautiful afternoon at the Redondo Beach Pier. The sky was mesmerizing.

Strength: D&G Paving – Interfanatic Customer Spotlight

“You never know how strong you are until being strong is your only choice.”

Bob Marley

Marley was certainly tested, which is why he gained so much insight into strength. He needed it to make his rebellious music, and his fans grew to need it from him. When we lost him, it was a tragedy for those who loved him – but his strength plays on.

Strength: strength of body, strength of character, strength of mind, strength of will.

When you look at Dan Ash of D&G Paving, his strengths are the first thing that strike you. Dan’s built a great business on strength, and on the strength of his product: great paving services.

Strength is a requirement of building a new business. It’s not easy. One must retain the fortitude to make it through the bumps.

I don’t know if Ash is the Yoda of asphalt, but some certainly consider him to be. He doesn’t need the Force, he just uses gigantic powerful machines to do his job beautifully and quickly in a way that has strength to stand the test of time.

If you look anywhere around Los Angeles, California’s South Bay, you’ll see the signature white and orange “D&G Paving” signs all over the place. You’ve probably noticed them before. There’s a reason for that – D&G is great at what they do.

Unless you’re a property owner or a property manager, you probably don’t have the need for fresh slurry very often. But next time you need asphalt or concrete work done for your business or parking lot, you know you can count on the strength of Dan Ash and D&G Paving.

Simplicity: Lilly Silks – Interfanatic Customer Spotlight

There is no greatness where there is not simplicity, goodness, and truth.

Leo Tolstoy

We all seek greatness in some way. Many of us seek greatness in business.

Simple. Elegant. Great.

Susan Lilly sought greatness in her own little corner of the fashion market – through hand-made silk scarves.

They were simple, and they were elegant. And they were great.

It was a genuine pleasure to work with Susan on her project. She’s since moved on from that business, leaving her silks real coveted collectors’ items. Oh, Susan took care of a great many gifts for me for quite some time!

Here, Tolstoy manages to pack a lot of heavy thinking into few words (instead of a lot of heavy thinking into many words, like usual). Simplicity, goodness and truth are the required ingredients for greatness, he says.

Simplicity: Often the Child of Complex Work

Sometimes performing a complex task yields simple results. Results so simple, they are discounted. Like when flat-earthers who use cellphones that require a geosynchoronous orbiting satellite network.

They don’t understand how it works. They just know it does. And they’re ungrateful to the efforts that made it so.

We shant be so hard on them; we all do it. Every day, people drive technological marvels without a thought to all of the complex safety that makes their cars easy to drive. We get so annoyed when our favorite video or tv show takes more than a few seconds to load. A cacophony of machinations yield a symphony of simplicity, yet we take the outrageous stance that it must be done more quickly, to please our flitting attentions.

And that’s what we see every day here at Interfanatic. Serpentine complexity orchestrated to create a simple result.

Keep it simple, stupid.

That’s what we strive for. To keep it simple. To make it great.

Just like Susan Lilly’s silks.

Love: Abbracci Studio – Interfanatic Customer Spotlight

Love is the flower you’ve got to let grow.

John Lennon

You want your business to grow. Or, you want your business to stay the same while you do less. It all happens with love.

Love your customers. Love your business. Your customers love you. Your business grows. Let it grow. Feed it with love.

And that’s what Tisha O’Dowd did with Abbracci Studio.

Abbracci is Italian for “hug”. What a beautiful sentiment on which to grow business.

Tisha successfully sold Abbracci Studio so she could spend more time with her growing family. She did it with love. She did it with hugs. She loved her customers. She loved her business. (Okay, not all of the time – none of us ever love our business 100% of the time. But over the long haul…)

In return, her customers loved her. They came back. They referred her. Her business grew. She fed her business with love until it was time to let it go.

Value: Peters Realty Center – Interfanatic Customer Spotlight

Price is what you pay; value is what you get.

– Warren Buffett

In this fascinating, terrifying and often delightful world, it’s difficult to know the price of a dollar. Nick Peters (now of Engel & Volkers) knows value.

We do on-going consultation with Nick. He’s one of the best Real Estate Agents in South Redondo Beach and Torrance, CA. All RE Agents claim to have superior customer service, and they all claim to really care about their clients, and they all say they really work hard for them. And many do.

But Nick takes it next level. Nick puts his money where his mouth is. He is constantly investing in his business to bring his customers value. And it works. And his customers know it. That’s why, in a flooded market, they stick with Nick and his team.

We at Interfanatic are attracted to Nick’s business because we do the same thing. We’re always brainstorming new ways to get value to our customers; to improve ROI; to help their business be better.

Nick and I sometimes just sit and chat and it’s amazing what comes out of our little sessions. It’s always valuable. And we’re happy to share what we learn from each other and pass it along.

Because to us, sharing what we learn… that’s value.
