Honor: Fastwire Electric – Interfanatic Customer Spotlight

Humility forms the basis of honor, just as the low ground forms the foundation of a high elevation.

Bruce Lee

Lee knew from his training and his heritage that honor is a virtue one must possess to be a good person. He had no call to be humble. But he knew that old adage that no matter what you do, there is another who is better.

What we do with that knowledge defines us. Will we strive to do more, to be more? Or do we falter in the face of that truth and crumble under its pressure?

Lee chose to be more. We want to be like Lee.

So does one of our clients, Joey Baune of Fastwire Electric. He knows his stuff, but he also wants to do more. He, like us, is always learning. Improving. Like us, he surely has a target on his back, placed there by competitors. And like us, he surely targets more and better performance.

Without that goal, without that moving target to improve, we stagnate and others pass us. But with humility as our ally, we are forced to push and to constantly improve. It is our way of moving through business and life with honor. Just like Baune and Fastwire.

Honor: An Interfanatic Quality

We don’t have to do these things. We have great customers. We could just continue to work for them. We could do as we have. We could eschew improvement and stay safe by avoiding the inevitable change.

But we at Interfanatic have seen that play out. Not through ourselves, luckily, but through our many competitors who have fallen by the way through our 22 years of digital marketing. Many tried to stay the same. They are gone. Competition is too fierce. Even cleverness isn’t enough. We find we must work hard and smart to reach the ever-moving goal post.

We do this with humility, to treat our customers and our competitors with honor.

Fastwire Electric : Humility in Daily Practice, Proving Continuing Honor

Joey Baune came to us some time ago. We put together a large proposal for him, including site design, build and a full suite of digital marketing services.

“Fastwire Electric needed results, so Interfanatic got to work.”

Time went by and though we checked in, we didn’t hear much. Turns out Baune had a friend who offered to do the work we proposed for cheaper. But when Joey got tired of waiting for performance, he came back and told us what happened.

He needed results, so we got to work. We launched his site and search ads campaign about two months ago. Immediately, his site could be found for the search terms most important to him. And with a modest Search Ads budget, we’re getting his business in front of thousands of potential customers in his local area. We’re using his budget efficiently, getting his business in front of only people most interested in the jobs he wants most.

Digital marketing is a process. It takes time to acquire data, interpret it and make it work. Joey understands this, so we continue to work hard for Fastwire Electric to produce the results he needs and drive his return on investment.

Interfanatic Service Focus: Interfanatic Power Search Advertising

You know what keeps you humble? Search Ads. Just when you think you know your audience, something changes. Just when you think you have a perfect campaign set up, you find changes needed.

Search Ads always keep you on your toes. And they always keep you humble.

We take pride in our ability to work with customers of all budgets. Many companies require a minimum ad spend; we do not. We can run successful ad campaigns with large budgets and small.

If you need more customers, or you’re looking to get your business name out there, give us a call. It’s our pleasure to help.

Interfanatic: Working for Honor through Humility

We work hard to be honorable. We work hard for ourselves, and we work hard for our clients. We stay humble so we are inspired by our customers to keep working hard. We’re here for them.

Family: Medawar Fine Jewelers – Interfanatic Customer Spotlight

Everyone needs a house to live in, but a supportive family is what builds a home.

Anthony Liccione

“A supportive family is what builds a home”… Wise words from the young man Liccione. And its true – we all need support. We will not make it without support. At some point or another, we all have needed a little (or a lot of) help. For many of us lucky ones, it’s family that sticks it out with us.

We work hard for our customers. We try to treat them like family. Our best customers treat us like family. They trust us like family because they know we work extra hard for them. We measure our our results in our customers success. And they measure our results in their success.

So, we try to build a supportive framework for our customers. We help them build their home with our talents. It’s hard work, but when it pays off, it pays off big.

I grew up in a family business. And so did the Medawar brothers. Robert Medawar has built a beautiful home in his business by treating his customers like family. And whenever they need help with digital marketing, they come to Interfanatic.

While I celebrate family, I celebrate the success of the Medawar family – a tradition on the Palos Verdes Peninsula for over 40 years. We’ve done business with the Medawars for about three-quarters of that, and we’ve been involved in their digital marketing now for over a decade. It’s a good partnership because it works. We understand family business.

Family: An Interfanatic Quality

We’ve been a part of or worked with family businesses for a couple of decades. We know how they work. We understand the intricacies, the particular difficulties that can arise as part of family business. It’s not like working for a regular business.

And you know that saying, “nobody will ever treat your business like you do”? We’re familiar with that. And it’s something we strive against daily. We treat all businesses as if they were our own – as if the owner is part of our family. And I don’t just mean our Interfanatic family. I mean part of our family – a brother or sister, mother, father, daughter or son we want to help succeed.

Medawar Fine Jewelers: A Family Business, and a Tradition on Southern California’s Palos Verdes Peninsula for over 40 Years

Working with family poses its own unique challenges. There may be sibling rivalries, paternal or maternal expectations that seem impossible, or it may simply not be your calling. Rivalries between parents and children are a constant challenge in family businesses. The next generation wants to try new things, and often the generation that built the business insists on relying upon what works – what got the business where it is.

We understand all of this – we’ve lived it. We’ve watched it, we’ve even intervened in it using our experience. Not often – that’s not our place. But since we have this unique experience, it sometimes helps.

Medawar is a large and successful family in the jewelry business. And Robert Medawar and brother Roy have created a successful business on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, Medawar Fine Jewelers, by treating their customers as we treat ours – like family.

“…Robert Medawar has created a successful business on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, Medawar Fine Jewelers, by treating their customers … like family.”

The jewelry business is adjusting, as is every business right now. Things are changing, not just with time, as usual, but with the demands of our business environment changing to new realities. More people are shopping online. More people are shopping on price, rather than relying on quality people to work with. It’s not a good adjustment, and things will change again. But that’s the reality we must adjust to that is in front of us.

We’ve worked with Medawar for over a decade. We began with minor tweaks to the site, then an all-new site design. Now, we’re doing it again. We’re adjusting to the changing demands of business and Internet.

They came to us because we’re family. Not literally, but our families have worked together now for close to four decades. They’ve tried other companies in the past, but in the end they know they can rely on us because we treat them as they treat us: like family.

And they do the same for you. When you need something really unique and special for a member of your family – or perhaps somebody you’d like to make part of your family – they’ve got it. They have phenomenal jewelry at all price points from the best, most exclusive makers in the jewelry business. They have and fix jewelry. They have and fix watches. They have and fix clocks – one of the few family businesses that fixes clocks left in the business. Gold rings, earrings, diamond rings, diamond watches, gold watches, necklaces, pendants, charms – Medawar Fine Jewelers has the right thing.

They also have unique gifts for people. If you’re like me, there are at least a half-dozen people in your life who are very hard to buy gifts for. Medawar has the right gift. I rely on them regularly to get the right item for the right person. Like I said, they, like us, can work with all budgets.

Call or go in. Feel the warmth of family, and find exactly the right thing at Medawar Fine Jewelers on the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

Interfanatic Service Focus: Interfanatic Power Social Media Advertising

Social Media has changed business a number of times. Every time there’s a new “it” platform, people flock to is, and businesses follow, schlepping their wares.

It’s inconsistent. Once social media becomes saturated, it’s no longer fun. It often becomes a place simply filled with banner after banner of advertisement, driving users nuts. But, for people who know what they’re doing, it can also be a goldmine.

It’s an opportunity for a business to interact with customers and potential customers in a very relaxed, informal way. It’s a chance for brands to interact with their constituents in a way that wasn’t possible before – it can feel very personal. You can message your idol, or make a product suggestion, or request assistance, all through social media. And if you as a business don’t respond, you may incur the wrath of disgruntled entitled social media followers.

For that reason, some brands avoid Social Media. Others dive in and revel in it.

But to get out there, you must first begin. And to get your posts seen by thousands when you don’t have thousands of followers yet, you must advertise.

We can help with that. We’ve been doing social media advertising for close to a decade – not as long as we’ve been doing social media – but we know the ins and outs. We know how to maximize spend, and we love helping our family of customers succeed.

Interfanatic: Providing for a Family of Businesses

We’d love to have you in our family. We love working with businesses of all kinds and sizes. Family businesses, corporations, and sole proprietors – we work with them all. Big budget, small budget, somewhere-in-between budget, we can work with that. We’re here to help you be more successful.

Love: Beach Cities Tutoring – Interfanatic Customer Spotlight

Love makes your soul crawl out from its hiding place.

-Zora Neale Hurston

Gosh, this is just a beautiful quote. Isn’t it?

Much like the lovely Zora Hurston – a beautiful woman, a beautiful soul. And somebody loved her, lucky for us, because her soul crawled out and blossomed into the beautiful body of work she created with her life.

She reminds me, in a way, of Ivie Sherman, the teacher turned tutor behind the Beach Cities Tutoring network of online and in-home tutors and test prep professionals based in nearby Torrance, CA. (Not to be confused with Beach Cities Student Tutoring, who came later basically stole Ivie’s business name).

Ivie definitely sees it as her job to help her students and mentees crawl out from their hiding places. And she does an excellent job, with love!

Love: An Interfanatic Quality

It takes passion and work to keep customers satisfied for decades. We’ve watched many fly-by-nights come and go in our business. But we’re back, day after day, because we love our customers and we want to help them succeed. We put love into our work for our customers, and it shows.

We love working with customers who love doing what they do. Almost all of our customers are wonderful to work with, and most are loving people. It makes it easy to get excited about helping them when they’re excited about loving what they do. It helps us love what we do.

Beach Cities Tutoring: Loving Students, Helping their Souls Flourish

When I read this Hurston quote, I knew immediately we’d be featuring Ivie Sherman this week. It’s perfect. Sherman helps her students’ souls crawl from their hiding places. She, and the network of tutors she directs, give students the tools they need to be confident, to comprehend, to learn, and to study for success. She and her network of tutors give love.

Ivie came to me a few weeks ago looking for help with her website. She wanted to get more traffic. We quickly settled in and got working on an Interfanatic SEO Situation Reports. We found where she was doing well and where her site was under-performing, and we came up with a laundry list of tasks to attack for her. We’re working through that now.

“Sherman and the network of tutors she directs, gives students tools they need to be confident, to comprehend, to learn, and to study for success.”

It is absolutely our pleasure to help a good, hard-working teacher help students. Her investment in our area, and our investment in her, will help our kids grow up stronger and more confident. We hope in the long run her students will bring their brand of success back to our area to reinvest.

That’s what we’re here to do. We want to build up people all over the world. What better place to start with love than right under your nose?

Interfanatic Service Focus: Interfanatic Basic Social Media Marketing

Social Media is an excellent opportunity to show love to your customers. You can celebrate them there (as we do), and you can interact with them, often in fun ways you wouldn’t otherwise.

But, let’s face it: Social Media (done right, at least) is a LOT of work.

If you don’t have the time or energy to produce great content and schedule your posts, we can do that. You should still interact with your customers – you or your service department – but at least we can keep the ball rolling for you. And when you have more successful posts, we can help you with advertising them, to get them to a larger audience and land you some new customers.

We have many options for all budgets. Talk to us and we’ll get your social media rolling!

Interfanatic: Feel the Love!

We love our customers! Customers like Ivie are easy to love because they love what they do, and we get to be a part of their success. Come be one of our customers. Let us take care of you, so you can take care of your customers and your business.

The yellow rose of friendship. It’s a beautiful rose; more beautiful than reflected in this picture. But it conveys the point: roses express love. When you receive a rose, it helps your soul to crawl out from its hiding place and feel the warmth of acceptance, compassion, and appreciation. I share this rose with you.

Courage: Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce – Interfanatic Customer Spotlight

He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.

Muhammad Ali

Risk-taking – not for the wary. Putting yourself out there, doing something new, taking the road less taken – all signs of courage. All signs of a person starting their own new business.

There’s an audacity about doing things your way and making it work. Especially when you have others depending on you to make it work.

In a way, this quote is a little shallow because it comes from somebody for whom this advice worked well. There are millions of others who have taken this advice and for whom it did not go well. We don’t hear from them, though…

For months, we’ve been told to limit our contact with others. Some took it seriously. Others did not. Some chose to take risks with their own lives, but more importantly, with the lives of others. It comes back to which information sources we choose to trust, I suppose. Many people distrusted the advice of people they didn’t want to hear, or people they didn’t want to hear from. The result is, while things were under control for a bit, everything those people have been telling us is true. This isn’t political, we were in a tenuous state, and now things are substantially worse because of the risk takers.

So: take risks. But be prudent. And mind your information sources. Maybe the ones telling you what you want to hear aren’t the most trustworthy.

Courage: An Interfanatic Quality

We take risks every day. Design is risk. To tell the story in a new way, you have to be audacious – you have to find a way to make your customer stand out while not taking too much risk. Their reputation depends on it.

But we are prudent about the risks we take. We don’t take risks because we want to, or just for the sake of taking risks. We do it when it’s required and when the payoff is worth the effort.

Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce – Supporting the Courageous

Every small business who deals with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce understands risks and the rewards that may come. Some have reaped those rewards, but many are just making the attempt.

“The PVP Chamber works hard to be a resource and to help small businesses survive and thrive.”

Every small business I meet in or around Palos Verdes, I recommend they join the PVP Chamber. I know the work the PVP Chamber staff puts forth for its membership. When things are good or like now, when things are tough, they work hard to be a resource and to help those small businesses survive and thrive.

So they know risk – and they know courage. They encourage courage, and try to help their small businesses put their best foot forward.

It was great fun to work with the Chamber on their Social Media efforts. We helped them get the word out about the PV Street Fair using their social media accounts as a tool. We then strategized and implemented a successful ongoing social media campaign, celebrating their member businesses, until they had the resources to to take over the project themselves.

The Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce is great to work with. They’re fantastic to have on your side.

Interfanatic Service Focus: Interfanatic Power Social Media Advertising

Social Media can be brilliantly effective when the stars align, but getting that post to go viral, while the dream, is a bit like hitting the lottery. It can happen, but…

So if you need your posts in front of more eyes, the answer is Social Media Advertising. It doesn’t necessarily guarantee engagement, but it does guarantee reach. And when handled properly, that reach is effective, and it helps your engagement. When not handled properly, it’s a waste of money.

We really enjoy helping our customers dial in their social media. We can use our experience to help you!

Interfanatic: Encouraging Courage

We like to think we’re like the Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber in that we help small businesses put their best foot forward. In that way, we’re really complimentary businesses. We’re trying to help the audacious make their mark while minimizing the big risks they have to take to make it happen.

Courage is forged in the fire of risk. If a small business emerges, they may be burnt and hammered, but they are more likely to last the further tests that come at them.

Endurance: Eddie’s Artistic Wrought Iron, Inc. – Interfanatic Customer Spotlight

People have to learn sometimes not only how much the heart, but how much the head, can bear.

Maria Mitchell

Mitchell knew, as many pre-suffrage women knew, the heart and the head must bear much. As a scientist (astronomer) in Victorian-era society, she had her work cut out for her, she required great endurance.

It’s more than the sharp pangs against you. It’s that sometimes they keep coming. And you just have to push through.

Mitchell pushed through, and her discovery became Miss Mitchell’s comet – I’m sure frying a number of experienced male colleagues.

Mitchell never married, and I’m sure that was a cause of great distraction, especially considering her fame. Look, I’m sure she made it work! But I have a feeling that for whatever the reason she didn’t marry in a time when it was only acceptable to do so, she had to bear great burden of head and heart – for at least a little while.

And yet, she endured. She became internationally famous, reputed, and trusted as a learned woman.

And that’s what we do, too. Not every project is perfect. (Certainly, some are!) But when they are not, we stick with it. We improve it. And over time, the success comes because we out-end the projects we take on.

Endurance: An Interfanatic Quality

Most of our clients are fantastic to work with. Some are a little on the difficult side. Look, we love them anyway, but it’s the same for all business.

And sometimes that difficulty translates into making a project difficult to manage.

Most of the time, our clients don’t have to hear that. We take care of it. We power through the tough parts and make sure the project is completed. Brilliantly.

We don’t like being stressed out, either.

The reason we stick it out? As we began with – our customers are awesome. We love doing a great job for them. We feel more successful when we help them be more successful.

There are a multitude of quotes about endurance. And they’re all true. We love to keep going where others give up. And we keep going, even after the project is completed, improving the project. Coming up with ways to improve performance. Making stuff happen for our customers – over the long haul.

Eddy’s Artistic Wrought Iron, Inc. – Here for the Long Haul

One of the many customers that come to mind when we reflect upon endurance is Eddy’s Artistic. Eddy crafts fences and gates using his bare hands. Has done so for over a decade.

It’s not an easy business. He has a lot of competition, he has difficult customers, and he has a very high standard to which he holds both himself and his products. Which have to endure salty climes and much abuse.

And the industry is competitive, so making a business last is difficult, with slim margins.

But Eddy knows what iron works in your situation, and how to produce a beautiful product that will last.

We did some work for Eddy’s Artistic some years ago – we created a basic website for them to show off their products. It was a fun, small project, and one we enjoyed. It’s always great to connect with a local business and help them succeed.

Eddy knows what iron works in your situation, and how to produce a beautiful product that will last.

We seek out local companies who have out-endured their websites. We find many of our customers worked with businesses that have gone by the wayside, or were done as a favor.

Making a business like ours, that has lasted 20 years, that’s not easy. We’re proud of our endurance.

Interfanatic Power Business Site Production

When you want a website that will endure, go with our Power Business site production. We build our business sites to last – and be secure.

A lot of work goes into making a robust, effective website for the Interwebz in 2020. It’s definitely not like it use to be. But, we’ve been doing this for 20 years. Some of our 20-year-old sites are still going strong!

Isn’t that what you want?

Get some endurance for your business. Have us make your business website.

Interfanatic and Endurance

Mitchell is a great hero. Forget being a reknowned female astronomer of the 1850s, we have so many women who were buried in the 1950s! We admire her accomplishments here.

When we look to the skies, to see Messier objects, planets and hopefully comets, we’re reminded of our minuscule place in this universe. Our time here is finite compared to the endurance of heavenly objects. But when we hear about or see comets, in particular, we think of Maria Mitchell, and her ability to take arms against the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. To endure.

Sincerity: Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce – Interfanatic Customer Spotlight

Sincere deeds invite new friends.”

Toba Beta

Sincerity, according to Beta, is an invitation. Truthfully, the opposite can be, also. But sincerity isn’t questionable, as levity might be. Sincerity is always a foot forward, a gesture of love and kindness.

Sincerity is always a way forward. When people observe sincere deeds, they want more.

Sincerity is the Interfanatic quality we celebrate this week. During a nervous time, sincerity and honesty are a welcome respite. And we welcome new friends with our sincerity.

Sincerity: An Interfanatic Quality

Sincerity builds trust. Trust builds relationships. Relationships are the foundation of business. In that way, sincerity is the foundation of all business.

Without sincerity nor trust, businesses cannot feel secure working with other businesses. Sincerity is the bedrock of B2B relationships.

Which is why, as we celebrate sincerity, we also celebrate the Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce. It is a small but mighty group, all working extremely hard for their member businesses in Southern California.

When you talk to the folks at the PVP Chamber, there is no doubt they’re thinking of you and working to promote your best interest in all they do.

They’re sincere.

Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce: Building Relationships on Sincerity

The staff of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber take their task seriously. They know they exist for the will of their members. The Palos Verdes Peninsula is a small but tight community. The Chamber supports their community and businesses with a one-on-one partnership you don’t normally see from a Chamber in Commerce.

As soon as businesses were told to close their doors, the Chamber stepped up, immediately providing distance networking opportunities. They shifted gears the way only a small and focused organization could.

“Sincerity is the bedrock of B2B relationships.”

And this behavior, this fervor, all comes from sincerity to do what’s right for its members.

When you’re interested in checking out a business in Palos Verdes, on the Peninsula (on the Hill, as it is known colloquially), call the Chamber to see if they’re a member. If they are, get the Chamber’s opinion on the business. If they’re not a member, it might be better to find a business that is.

Social Media Marketing with Interfanatic: Building a Solid Interface to the Community

Last year, Interfanatic partnered with the PVP Chamber to handle the social media aspects of Chamber outreach. We handled the live posting from the PVP Chamber’s PV Street Fair, and then continued with a Social Media program for the Chamber.

The results were astonishing. The Chamber was able to grow some of its Social Media Channels incredibly in just a short period of time. The community learned more about member businesses and Chamber activities, and the collaboration was incredibly successful.

Social Media is a crucial part of outreach and customer service in 2020. During this time of COVID-19 social distancing, there will be no PV Street Fair, but rest assured if you need to find out about your local Palos Verdes business community, the PVP Chamber knows what’s happening.

Interfanatic & Sincerity

As we said before, without sincerity nor trust, businesses cannot feel secure working with other businesses. A sincere demeanor is the bedrock of B2B relationships. Perhaps that’s why we’re proud to have great relationships with many businesses spanning multiple decades.

We do what’s right for our customers. You can take that to the bank.

Strength: D&G Paving – Interfanatic Customer Spotlight

“You never know how strong you are until being strong is your only choice.”

Bob Marley

Marley was certainly tested, which is why he gained so much insight into strength. He needed it to make his rebellious music, and his fans grew to need it from him. When we lost him, it was a tragedy for those who loved him – but his strength plays on.

Strength: strength of body, strength of character, strength of mind, strength of will.

When you look at Dan Ash of D&G Paving, his strengths are the first thing that strike you. Dan’s built a great business on strength, and on the strength of his product: great paving services.

Strength is a requirement of building a new business. It’s not easy. One must retain the fortitude to make it through the bumps.

I don’t know if Ash is the Yoda of asphalt, but some certainly consider him to be. He doesn’t need the Force, he just uses gigantic powerful machines to do his job beautifully and quickly in a way that has strength to stand the test of time.

If you look anywhere around Los Angeles, California’s South Bay, you’ll see the signature white and orange “D&G Paving” signs all over the place. You’ve probably noticed them before. There’s a reason for that – D&G is great at what they do.

Unless you’re a property owner or a property manager, you probably don’t have the need for fresh slurry very often. But next time you need asphalt or concrete work done for your business or parking lot, you know you can count on the strength of Dan Ash and D&G Paving.

This project is of particular significance to WSmad because, as so many of our clients have struggled in the past to get a Web Site live, D&G had a web site for a couple of years that never got finished by it’s previous designer.  WSmad is capable of providing that extra service that it takes to make sure our partners are happy with what we do and ensuring that we produce ROI for them; not many can do this the way we do it, and certainly not as consistently.  That’s just the kind of service that D&G provides for it’s clients, so our companies really fit well together!

Congratulations Dan and Keith and the whole D&G Team on your beautiful new Web SIte – certainly an industry leader, just as you are!

Robert Medawar donates a MotoGP-themed Tissot Watch to Auction for CharityRobert Medawar of Medawar Fine Jewelers in Palos Verdes donated a beautiful MotoGP-themed Tissot Watch to be auctioned off at the Palos Verdes Concours d’Elegance.  Pictured here are Robert Medawar, holding the watch in its MotoGP Replica Helmet Case and the lucky new owner.

As if by divine intervention, shortly after the watch won big money in the auction, the Concours Ralley organizers announced Robert and co-driver Sheila as this year’s winners!

Robert Medawar came to WSmad looking for a site to match his beautiful new store.  We’ve come to a design that he’s pleased with; we’ll be building out an implementing over the next month or two.

Because you’re here, we’ll give you a little tiny sneak peak.  Hint:  It’s gonna be good.  Check out the new theme, just a splash page at the moment – www.MedawarFineJewelers.com.
